Fitness for Seniors - Fitness Training

Fitness training

There are many senior citizens that are actively involved in fitness training exercises at a local health and fitness center that feature a fitness for seniors program once or twice a week. Through these exercise classes, these aged senior citizens learn to regulate their breathing, to enjoy an increased tempo in their movement patterns that raises their heart rate ever so slightly, and learn the benefits of proper nutrition and the effects that it has on the body.

These senior citizens initially came to the health and fitness centers because they had a medical problem and it was based on the advice of their physician. Other senior citizens came to enjoy the fitness training that they knew would improve their quality of life. Some were only interested in making friends and tolerated the physical fitness regimen long enough to add a long list of names to their personal telephone directories.

Most of the senior citizens were intimidated at first at the vast expanse of exercise equipment that seemed to litter the room. Many of the men and women in the exercise program were well aware of the benefits of a fitness training program but had not had the opportunity to enjoy it for some time. In fact, it had been quite a while, and they never realized how much time had passed by since their last visit to a gym.

The names might have changed for these aged individuals, but all of the healthy aspects of a prolonged fitness regimen were still the same and provided the same benefits. There were some new benefits in the new style of gym though. They were very enthusiastic about the whirlpool spas that were offered after a long exercise routine. There were whirlpool spas in different locations to accommodate all of the men and women that visited the facility on a regular basis. They also enjoyed the various styles of machinery that they could work out on but did not recognize the names of any of them, or did not know what part of the body they were made to target.

These senior citizens were equally impressed by the different departments that were located throughout the health and fitness center. There was a heart rehabilitation department that concentrated its fitness instruction to the care of people that had undergone open heart surgery and were part of a Bounce Back program that aided their recovery from the intense surgery they had to experience.

They were equally impressed by the aerobics classes that were being offered to them at such a reasonable price. Some of these aerobics classes were done in an Olympic size pool which made the intense workout worthwhile. They were provided massage services if it was recommended by a physician and were performed by a licensed physical therapist. There was also a physical therapy department that helped people with an exercise program that was built around people that had to use prosthetic devices during their exercise routine.

The most beneficial service that the senior citizens were offered were the services of a licensed nutritionist. Through her professional advice, these senior citizens were able to modify their diets to the point where their muscle tone changed from the benefits that were found in their protein diets. Other senior citizens followed a weight loss regimen that improved their cardiovascular readings immensely. All senior citizens were glad that they had found the health benefits that were afforded by these well-equipped health and fitness centers.
